Stellar Blade is set to receive a full sequel, as confirmed by developer Shift Up.

The action-packed PlayStation-published title launched in April 2024 to widespread acclaim, praised for its gameplay that blends elements from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Players were drawn into its intense combat and striking visuals, despite some noted flaws in narrative depth and side content design.

Now, Shift Up has officially announced the development of a Stellar Blade sequel. The confirmation came via a strategic roadmap shared as part of the company’s latest financial report.

As seen in the presentation slide detailing Shift Up's upcoming franchise expansions, the Stellar Blade sequel is positioned as the next major project, slated for release before 2027.

Before the sequel arrives, the roadmap references a “platform expansion” for Stellar Blade, which is widely believed to refer to the game’s upcoming PC launch. The Steam version is scheduled to debut on June 11, 2025.

In addition to the Stellar Blade sequel, Shift Up also teased other upcoming titles during this development phase, including the enigmatic Project Witches—a brand-new multiplatform action RPG still under wraps.

Earlier this week, Shift Up addressed concerns regarding a regional block issue on Steam, stating it was "closely discussing" the matter with Sony after the game's store page was restricted in over 100 countries.

Stellar Blade stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses,” wrote IGN in their official review.

“Both its story and characters lack substance, and some of its RPG elements are poorly implemented, like dull sidequests that very often require you to retrace your steps through previous levels with very little done to make the return trip feel unique or rewarding.

“But its action picks up most of that slack thanks to the rock-solid fundamentals of its Sekiro-inspired combat system, a deep well of hideous monstrosities to sharpen your sword against, and plenty of hidden goodies that do a great job of incentivizing exploration throughout.”
