Digital FoundryのThomas Morgan氏が最近、ShadPS4エミュレーターを使用して『Bloodborne』を検証し、ゲームのパフォーマンスやMOD作者たちによる様々な技術的改良を分析しました。

Morgan氏は、raphaelthegreat氏のブランチをベースにdiegolix29氏が開発したカスタム版「ShadPS4 build 0.5.1」を使用して評価を実施。複数のビルドをテストした結果、AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPUとNVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080グラフィックスカードを搭載した彼のテスト環境で最適な結果が得られました。

レビュアーは、ポリゴンが歪むグラフィック異常を解消する「Vertex Explosion Fix」MODの導入を強く推奨。この修正を適用するとキャラクターの顔カスタマイズ機能が無効になりますが、持続的な表示バグが確実に解消されます。この調整以外に追加のMODは不要で、エミュレータ本体に備わる専用メニューシステムで60fps動作・4Kまでの解像度スケーリング・色収差除去など包括的な機能が利用可能です。

Morgan氏はテスト中ほぼ安定した60fps動作を確認したものの、時折カクつきが発生。1440pや1800pといった高解像度では画質が向上する代わりに安定性が低下し、クラッシュ頻度が増加しました。これらの結果を踏まえ、ネイティブの1080pか若干強化した1152p解像度を使用することを提案しています。

Digital Foundryの専門家は、機能するPS4エミュレーションが既に存在すること自体に驚きを示し、ShadPS4開発チームの卓越した成果を称賛。現在の技術的限界を認めつつも、『Bloodborne』がエミュレーションで驚くほど良好に動作することはコンソールエミュレーション技術の大きな進歩だと結論付けました。
