Duck Bucket REPO Update Fights Dreaded Duck

The developers behind REPO have revealed their roadmap for future updates, including a "duck bucket" feature designed to prevent the notorious duck from eliminating players. Read on to discover more about upcoming features and the response from Lethal Company's creator.
Inside REPO’s First Major Update
Duck Bucket – Your Defense Against the Duck

REPO’s initial update introduces a new map and a "duck bucket" to help players deal with the troublesome duck. On March 15, Semiwork Studios shared a video on YouTube outlining what’s coming to the game.
REPO is a cooperative horror game supporting up to six players, challenging teams to extract and retrieve items while surviving a terrifying environment. While exploring, players may encounter The Apex Predator—a small yellow duck that, when harmed or picked up, transforms into a deadly monster. It attacks players for ten seconds before reverting to its original form.
Soon, players will have access to the "duck bucket," which traps the duck and stops it from tailing the group. This tool also helps prevent teammates from accidentally triggering the duck’s monster form. Upcoming enhancements also include updated facial expressions and various quality-of-life upgrades.
Introducing "The Museum" Map and Public Lobbies

Semiwork Studios has also announced a new map titled "The Museum." This level is designed to test players’ parkour abilities. Extraction zones will now clearly show their boundaries, making it easier to determine whether loot can be successfully retrieved.
Public lobbies are also in development, with the team carefully reviewing player feedback. "Given that most players support public or private matchmaking with a kick function, we're exploring these options. However, adding a kick button involves server-side programming, which is new territory for us," the developers explained.
That said, Semiwork Studios noted that implementing this could be challenging, so players may need to wait a bit longer than expected for this particular update.
Lethal Company Creator Weighs In on REPO
Ever since its February launch, REPO has drawn comparisons to the hit co-op horror game Lethal Company, thanks to similar gameplay mechanics and themes. On March 15, Lethal Company’s creator, Zeekerss, offered constructive feedback via Twitter (X), highlighting areas for improvement in future updates.
He wrote: "REPO is fun. Initially, I wasn’t sure because movement felt slow and the voice chat range was too limited. But coordinating with the team to move a grand piano through a tight mansion without scratching it—that’s a brilliantly hilarious objective for a horror game." In follow-up comments, he added: "I’ll share more thoughts on Patreon, but two key points: first, the voice chat range should be extended and the muffling reduced. Second, big open maps don’t fit the game’s design well—it truly shines in tight, cramped layouts like the mansion."

Zeekerss also responded to a comment about enemies approaching silently, making them hard to detect. He agreed: "Yes, there should be a way in the game to learn enemy behavior—but I’m sure the developers are already planning that."
R.E.P.O. is the newest breakout co-op horror title, available now on PC. At the time of writing, it ranks as the second best-selling game on Steam, behind only Counter-Strike 2. According to SteamDB, it has surpassed 230,645 simultaneous players, nearing Lethal Company’s all-time peak of 240,817. For more updates and info on R.E.P.O., check out the article linked below!
