GSC Game World has officially announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy - Enhanced Edition, a cutting-edge remaster of the iconic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy set to release on May 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This next-generation upgrade breathes new life into Shadow of Chernobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Pripyat (2009), offering enhanced visuals, modern optimizations, and expanded mod support.

For current owners of the original trilogy on Xbox Series X|S or PS5, the Enhanced Edition will be available as a free update. On PC, GSC Game World is rewarding loyal fans by providing the Enhanced Editions at no additional cost to existing owners of the original games, while newcomers purchasing the Enhanced Edition will also receive the classic versions included in the package. The trilogy is available as a bundle priced at $39.99 or individually at $19.99 per title. Cross-platform save transfers are not supported, so your progress will remain platform-specific.

On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, gamers will enjoy multiple frame-rate options, including standard settings at 30 FPS and 60 FPS, along with specialized modes targeting 40 FPS and up to 120 FPS. However, the 40 FPS and 120 FPS modes require displays with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology. Console players also benefit from distinct graphical and performance modes such as Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra Performance.

Key visual upgrades across all platforms include advanced lighting with godrays, screen-space reflections, and global illumination for a more immersive atmosphere. Textures and 3D models for NPCs, weapons, and environments have been upscaled, while water and wetness effects feature enhanced shaders paired with dynamic skyboxes. Additionally, 4K pre-rendered cinematics enhance storytelling, and weapon field-of-view improvements optimize combat visibility.

Console-specific enhancements include support for keyboard and mouse controls on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, mod.io integration for seamless mod creation and sharing across PC and consoles, and Steam Workshop compatibility for PC users. The PC version also boasts Steam Deck optimization, cloud save functionality, and full gamepad support for a console-like experience.

Developed by GSC Game World in Kyiv, Ukraine, this project marks another milestone for the studio following the success of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl. For insights into the studio’s journey amidst challenging circumstances, read more about their evolution post-invasion [here].
