Tong-Its is exclusively a three-player game, utilizing a standard 52-card Anglo-American deck without jokers. The card hierarchy within each suit ranks from Ace (1 point) to King (10 points), with Jacks and Queens also valued at 10 points each, and all other cards counting their face value.

**Objective**

The goal is to strategically draw and discard cards to form sets and runs, minimizing the points of unmatched cards in your hand. A run is formed by three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, while a set consists of three or four cards of the same rank. Remember, a card can only be part of one combination at a time.

**The Deal**

The initial dealer is chosen at random, with subsequent deals going to the winner of the previous hand. Cards are dealt counterclockwise, starting with the dealer receiving thirteen cards, and the other players receiving twelve each. The remaining cards form the stock, placed face down.

**The Play**

Each turn involves:

• **Draw**: Begin by taking a card from the top of the stock or the discard pile, but only from the discard pile if you can immediately create a meld (set or run) and must then expose it.
• **Exposing Melds**: Optionally, expose valid melds from your hand on the table. Melding is not mandatory if drawing from the stock, and hidden melds don't count against you at the game's end. To open your hand, you must lay at least one meld on the table. A special move involves laying down a set of four face down to open your hand without revealing it, securing bonus payments.
• **Laying Off (Sapaw)**: Optionally, add cards to existing melds on the table, with no limit on the number of cards you can lay off in a turn. You don't need to have opened your hand to lay off, and doing so on another's meld prevents them from calling Draw on their next turn.
• **Discard**: Conclude your turn by discarding one card onto the discard pile face up.
