Backbone Pro Launches Universal Controller
- Play in handheld mode or enjoy wireless freedom
- Compact design featuring full-size joysticks
- Includes the convenient Backbone companion app
Following the Backbone One 2nd-gen controller's support for the iPhone 16 last year, the company is pushing forward with the new Backbone Pro. Designed as a next-generation controller, it connects to your device either wirelessly via Bluetooth or with a direct USB-C cable.
The wired connection promises absolutely zero latency and removes the need to charge the controller, while wireless mode offers greater portability and flexibility. A standout feature is the Backbone Pro's broad compatibility, working with phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and even VR headsets.
It aims to be a universal controller for all your devices. Its FlowState Technology makes switching between previously paired gadgets seamless. The team dedicated significant effort to achieving what they call the "smallest form factor ever to accommodate full-size joysticks"—a challenging engineering accomplishment.

The controller also offers customization options and remappable back buttons, complemented by the handy Backbone app. Through the app, you can access games from services like Apple Arcade, Netflix, Xbox Remote Play, Steam Link, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW. Backbone+ subscribers gain free access to its curated game library.
"We believe the future of gaming transcends individual devices," says Maneet Khaira, Founder and CEO of Backbone. "With Backbone Pro, you can experience the excitement and connection of gaming on any screen with just a single device."
If this sounds appealing, visit the official Backbone website to learn more or order. A UK launch is coming soon. For titles to play, check out our list of the best Android games with controller support.
