Ubisoft Patches AC Origins, Valhalla for Windows 11 Compatibility
Welcome back to our ongoing series "How is Ubisoft today?" Amidst the ongoing challenges faced by Ubisoft's upper management, there's a glimmer of good news to report. The company has successfully tackled a persistent issue that has been plaguing gamers for months.
Ubisoft has now resolved the compatibility issues that arose between several Assassin’s Creed titles, including Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and the 24H2 update for Windows 11. Since the fall of 2024, these games had ceased to function correctly on the new operating system. The solution came through the release of new patches, which were announced on the Steam pages for both Origins and Valhalla.
The gaming community has responded positively to these updates. Comments under the patch notes show a wave of relief and gratitude towards Ubisoft for addressing this long-standing issue. Interestingly, the feedback has been devoid of the usual criticism, as gamers recognize that the root of the problem was with Windows rather than Ubisoft's development. Despite this, the recent reviews for both games on Steam still hover at "Mixed."
Looking ahead, there's optimism surrounding the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Originally slated for an earlier launch, the game's release has been pushed back to March 20. This delay is part of Ubisoft's strategy to enhance the game's quality, a move seen as critical given that the success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows could significantly influence the company's future trajectory.
