"South Park Season 27 Release Date Revealed in New Trailer"
The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the state of things in their own unique, barely-coping way.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but with a twist that initially fooled the audience into thinking it was a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer's intense editing and ominous music set the stage... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to intense action, hinting at several significant and topical events for the season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy appearance, and, of course, another war with Canada. If you're a longtime fan or have seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, you know this last plot point is almost a given.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has aired three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
