For the first time, you can snag a discount on the PlayStation Portal, albeit on a used unit. Amazon Resale, previously known as Amazon Warehouse, is currently offering PlayStation Portals in Used: Like New condition for just $156.02 with free shipping. Given its original price of $199, this represents a solid 20% savings. While it's unclear whether a Sony warranty is included, all Amazon Resale products come with the same 30-day return policy as new items. Given its popularity, we anticipate these to sell out fast.

The item looks and functions as if it were new, though moderate packing damage was noted during inspection.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony's innovative handheld accessory for the PS5, resembling an extended DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen sandwiched between the grips. It allows you to stream games from your PS5 at up to 60fps, offering the same haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface in place of the DualSense's touchpad. While it can stream games outside your home, a very stable and fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to operate.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the PS Portal. Sony has rolled out a feature enabling direct streaming from its PlayStation Now cloud service, expanding your gaming library to over 120 titles, including hits like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. To access this, you'll need to subscribe to the premium tier of PlayStation Plus, priced at $18 monthly, a more appealing option than purchasing a $500 console plus additional game costs.

While the PlayStation Portal offers a unique way to stream your PS5 games over Wi-Fi, you can achieve similar functionality using the PS Remote Play app on mobile devices, including other handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setup is more complex, and you'll miss out on some DualSense features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy**

"The PlayStation Portal exceeded my expectations, offering a superior experience compared to using a phone with a makeshift controller. Its ability to let me play my PS5 games anywhere with decent WiFi, especially when the TV was occupied by family members playing the Switch, is a game-changer. Despite its reliance on a PS5 and some limitations like the lack of web browser login for WiFi and Bluetooth audio support, it's the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play. If not for these issues, it would be an essential purchase for any PS5 owner interested in handheld gaming or sharing the household TV."
