Max has unveiled a new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, intensifying its connection to the Superman saga by introducing iconic characters such as Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner in the opening scene. The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl interviewing John Cena’s Peacemaker for a potential superhero team. Needless to say, the interaction doesn’t go smoothly, leaving Peacemaker visibly disheartened as he exits the premises.
These fresh appearances highlight key supporting roles set to feature in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 premieres on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11, marking the third installment in the newly reimagined DC Universe (DCU). This cinematic universe, spearheaded by Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, departs from the critically maligned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, some elements from the old universe will carry over.
Peacemaker serves as a prime example, with Season 1 originating in the defunct DCEU and Season 2 debuting in the DCU.
Gunn has stated that *"many strands will remain consistent regarding Peacemaker’s storyline,"* though specifics on what carries over from DCEU to DCU remain vague. He has confirmed that the original cast will return, including John Cena in the lead role alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.Additionally, Gunn revealed that the series will canonically occur post-Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter’s events influencing the trajectory of Peacemaker.
