Kieran Culkin, celebrated for his standout performances in *Succession* and *A Real Pain*, has officially been cast as the young Caesar Flickerman in Lionsgate's upcoming adaptation of *The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping*. The announcement, which puts an end to months of speculation, was made official by Lionsgate on X/Twitter today. Fans and readers alike have been buzzing about who would take on the role of the vibrant and quirky TV host, and now, with Culkin's casting confirmed, excitement is building for the 2026 release.

*Sunrise on the Reaping* is the latest addition to the ever-growing *Hunger Games* universe, serving as a prequel set after the events of *The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes* (2023) and before the iconic series led by Jennifer Lawrence in the 2010s. Stanley Tucci's portrayal of Caesar Flickerman in those films set a high bar, and now Culkin steps into the role to bring a fresh take on the character.

“Kieran’s scene-stealing presence and undeniable charm are perfect for Caesar Flickerman, the sickeningly watchable host of Panem’s darkest spectacle,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-President Erin Westerman. “Stanley Tucci made Caesar unforgettable—and now Kieran will make the role entirely his own.”

Culkin's recent accolades, including a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award for his role in *A Real Pain*, have cemented his status as a versatile and dynamic actor. His career, which spans from childhood roles in classics like *Father of the Bride* and *Home Alone* alongside his brother Macaulay Culkin, to his recent critically acclaimed performances, showcases his range and appeal. His quick wit and charm make him an ideal choice for the role of the dystopian TV host in *Sunrise on the Reaping*.

*The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping* is slated to hit theaters on November 20, 2026, and will bring Suzanne Collins’ novel of the same name to the big screen. Alongside Culkin, the film will feature a stellar cast including Ralph Fiennes (Conclave, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) as President Coriolanus Snow, Elle Fanning (Super 8) as Effie Trinket, Jesse Plemons (Civil War, Breaking Bad) as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Joseph Zada (Total Control) as Haymitch Abernathy, among others.
