Hearthstone enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting crossover event with the unveiling of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, set to launch on January 21. This Mini-Set, part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion, is the largest in Hearthstone's history, boasting 49 new cards. This impressive collection includes class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and even a unique factionless neutral Legendary card.
The initial reveal of Heroes of StarCraft took place during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, where Hearthstone introduced the concept of blending elements from Blizzard's beloved yet underappreciated science fiction RTS, StarCraft, into its card game. While the initial announcement provided only basic details, the full scope of the Mini-Set has now been disclosed, offering a deep dive into what players can expect.
Heroes of StarCraft expands the card pool with 49 brand-new cards, surpassing the usual Mini-Set count by 11 cards. Each Hearthstone class will receive three dedicated cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—each contribute five cards, including a Legendary card per faction, usable by the corresponding classes. To round off the set, a neutral Legendary card named Grunty has been introduced. Hearthstone has already begun showcasing some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the Mini-Set's launch.

The Zerg cards, which can be utilized by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, are designed to flood the board with Zerglings and leverage the Hydralisk to amplify damage based on the swarm's size. On the other hand, the Protoss cards, available to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana manipulation, enabling the early deployment of powerful cards like the Carrier. Meanwhile, the Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from new Starship mechanics introduced in The Great Dark Beyond set, including new Starship Pieces and strategies to launch multiple Starships, highlighted by a unique Mech-themed Starship.
Despite its larger size, the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a slightly higher price point. Players can acquire a full playset for $20 or 2500 gold, an increase of $5 and 500 gold over typical Mini-Sets. The all-Golden version is priced at $80 or 12,000 gold, compared to the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. However, fans can opt for faction-specific packs, available for $10 or 1200 gold, featuring cards from either Protoss, Terran, or Zerg.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone has scheduled two exciting streaming events. StarCast, on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 playing with the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games.
