CD Projekt Red's post emphasized, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 was unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist. This shift from the long-standing protagonist Geralt sparked significant discussion within the gaming community.
Following the announcement, VGC conducted an interview with The Witcher 4 Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, who addressed the community's reaction to Ciri's new role. Weber shared his appreciation for Geralt but emphasized the team's commitment to showcasing Ciri's potential, stating, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
Małgorzata Mitręga, Executive Producer of The Witcher 4, expressed gratitude for the community's support and acknowledged the fans' passionate feedback. He remarked, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
CD Projekt Red aims to make The Witcher 4 the most ambitious installment in the series, introducing new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though no specific release date has been announced yet.
