Introducing the Secret "SPECIAL ROOM" – A Switch 2 Exclusive

During the April 2 Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, it was officially confirmed that Deltarune will launch on the next-gen console with support for Chapters 3 and 4. Alongside the expanded content, the Switch 2 version will feature a special exclusive addition: a hidden "SPECIAL ROOM" designed to take full advantage of the new Joy-Con’s mouse-like functionality.

As revealed in a Fangamer newsletter by Deltarune creator Toby Fox, this unique room leverages the ability to use dual-controller mouse controls—a feature only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2. Fox shared, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"

While the SPECIAL ROOM will be accessible on non-Switch 2 platforms, it will utilize a different control scheme to accommodate standard input methods. Additionally, players who have completed the Nintendo Switch demos of Chapters 1 and 2 can seamlessly import their save data into the full Switch 2 version.

Future Chapters Will Be Free for All Owners

In the same newsletter, Toby Fox confirmed the official price of Deltarune at $24.99. This one-time purchase includes access to Chapters 1 through 4, with Chapters 1 and 2 having originally released in 2018 and 2021 as free downloads. While it was previously announced that Chapters 3 to 5 would be paid content, Fox has now reversed course—future chapters will be delivered as free updates to all players who purchase the base game.

Fox expressed his vision, stating, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal." This means players only need to buy the game once to receive all upcoming story content at no additional cost.

The official Deltarune soundtrack will also be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 tracks from Chapters 3 and 4. Like the game itself, the soundtrack will receive free updates with music from future chapters.
