Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion: Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is gearing up to bring the beloved Digimon franchise back to mobile devices with the exciting new release, Digimon Alysion. This digital adaptation of the popular Digimon Card Game is set to launch as a free-to-play title on both Android and iOS platforms. While an exact release date remains undisclosed, anticipation is building among fans eager to dive into this new digital realm.

The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. The event was packed with thrilling updates, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a fresh arc slated for April 2025. Additionally, Bandai Namco celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime with a special video and unveiled new projects such as Digimon Adventure: Beyond and a new RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, set to hit consoles and PCs.

Digimon Alysion: More Than Just a Card Game

Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital replica of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces a unique feature called 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this mobile version. Alongside these, the game will incorporate new Digimon and characters, setting it apart from its tabletop counterpart.

The character lineup showcased on the game's website is predominantly female, a bold choice that's sparked some discussion within the community. While some fans are excited about the fresh direction, others are cautiously optimistic, especially those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their previous attempts haven't been met with resounding success. With two prior failures under their belt, there's a palpable sense of caution surrounding Digimon Alysion's potential to thrive in the competitive mobile gaming market.

Despite the mixed feelings, I'm personally looking forward to what Digimon Alysion has to offer. A closed beta test is currently in the works, though details remain scarce. For the latest updates, be sure to visit the official website or follow their X account.
