Application Description
Control your device with switches or the front camera, enhancing accessibility for those who find direct interaction challenging. Switch Access on Android devices allows you to navigate and interact using physical or camera-based switches.
To begin using Switch Access:
- Navigate to your device's Settings app.
- Select Accessibility > Switch Access.
Set Up a Switch
Switch Access enables scanning across your screen, highlighting items until you select one. You have options for different types of switches:
Physical switches:
- USB or Bluetooth switches: Use external buttons or keyboards.
- On-device switches: Utilize your device's volume buttons.
Camera switches:
- Facial gestures like opening your mouth, smiling, or raising your eyebrows.
- Eye movements such as looking left, right, or up.
Scan Your Device
Once your switch is set up, you can scan and interact with your screen using various methods:
- Linear scanning: Navigate through items sequentially.
- Row-column scanning: Scan rows first, then items within the selected row.
- Point scanning: Use intersecting lines to pinpoint a specific location on the screen, followed by a "Select" action.
- Group selection: Assign switches to color groups on the screen. Select items by choosing the corresponding color and narrowing down to the desired item.
Use the Menus
Upon selecting an item, a menu appears offering actions like select, scroll, copy, and paste. Additionally, a top-screen menu assists in navigation, allowing you to access notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.
Navigate with Camera Switches
Leverage your device's front camera to control your phone using facial gestures. Customize the sensitivity and duration of these gestures to suit your preferences.
Record Shortcuts
Create shortcuts for frequent or complex actions by recording touch gestures such as pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double tapping. Assign these to a switch or access them from a menu for streamlined use.
