Yama, New Boss in Old School RuneScape, Emerges in Great Kourend

Old School RuneScape's latest update plunges you back into the political turmoil and infernal depths of Great Kourend, where an ancient and malevolent force has awakened. The new boss, Yama, the Master of Pacts, is now available—a fire-wreathed minotaur demon who has been amassing power in the Chasm of Fire, biding his time to unleash chaos.

If you've completed the A Kingdom Divided quest (and finished with Royal Titans), this update continues the saga. After confronting Yama’s Judge back in 2021, you might have sensed that the real threat was still lurking—complete with wings, horns, hooves, and a formidable two-handed axe. Yama is accompanied by the Disciples of Yama, a cult of fire-worshipping zealots ready to sacrifice themselves for their master.

The battle against Yama is tailored for high-level players. You'll need the quest completed, top-tier combat stats, and the best gear to stand a chance. The encounter supports both solo and group play. Triumphing over him grants access to new rewards, including Demon Tallow for brewing Surge Potions, the Chasm of Fire Teleport Scroll, new Grimoire Pages, and several other hidden treasures.

The Chasm of Fire has also been expanded to include a dedicated mining and smithing area where you can harvest Crimson Lovakite, a rare resource found only in this fiery abyss. With it, you can craft Oathplate, a new armor set that significantly enhances your late-game arsenal. Even if boss fights aren't your thing, there's plenty of reason to explore this area.
