Nightmare Tempest Mephis could be an excellent replacement for the main 4-slot Echo of Electro characters in Wuthering Waves. Not only does it provide additional stats, but it can also potentially make certain damage rotations much stronger compared to its regular counterpart (plus, it's shinier than usual).

All Nightmare Echoes in Wuthering Waves provide similar bonuses, but while most are easy to reach, Nightmare Tempest Mephis is locked behind a few subtle steps. Here's what you need to do to unlock this boss.

Where to Find Nightmare Tempest Mephis in Wuthering Waves

This formidable boss awaits in the large, circular arena at the Shores of Last Breath in the Fagaceae Peninsula. However, before you can challenge Nightmare Tempest Mephis, there are a few prerequisites to meet.

First, you must complete the "Where Winds Return to Celestial Realms" quest in WuWa — an engaging exploration quest set in the Shores of Last Breath. This combat-focused quest can be completed in one go, though it may take some time. Completing this quest is crucial as it unlocks the path to Nightmare Tempest Mephis' arena.

Secondly, you need to locate all the Dream Patrols in the Shores of Last Breath. Simply discovering these patrols, without necessarily completing them, is sufficient. Once all are found, a notification will alert you that Nightmare Tempest Mephis is now available for battle at the designated map location shown above.

Should You Use Nightmare Tempest Mephis?

Deciding to use Nightmare Tempest Mephis largely depends on the stats of your Echo drops and the character you wish to build in Wuthering Waves. When placed in the main Echo slot, Nightmare Tempest Mephis grants a bonus to Electro DMG and can be part of either the Void Thunder or Empyrean Anthem Sonata sets. The Void Thunder set is ideal for most Electro damage dealers, whereas the Empyrean Anthem set benefits characters capable of Coordinated Attacks, like Yinlin and Yuanwu.

Moreover, Nightmare Tempest Mephis features a unique transformation attack, distinct from its regular version, which can enhance specific rotations for certain characters or team compositions. Coupled with the passive Electro DMG bonus, Nightmare Echoes are definitely worth considering for many characters.

However, it's essential to prioritize Echoes with superior stats. If your Nightmare Tempest Mephis has lower stats than its regular counterpart, sticking with the standard variant might yield better results overall.
