TownsFolk Unveils Major Update: New Mechanics, Structures, and Compendium Added
Short Circuit Studio has unveiled an exciting new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more thrilling dimension to the game's charming pixel-art world, packed with fresh mechanics and content for players to explore.
Even though TownsFolk is newly launched, the developers are not holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a host of new elements, including roaming Barbarians that will heighten the tension in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. These Barbarians add a strategic layer, challenging players to defend their settlements more effectively.
Additionally, eight new structures are being introduced: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer. Each of these buildings offers unique functionalities that can enhance your settlement's capabilities and alter your gameplay strategy.
The update also brings a splash of excitement to water tiles with the introduction of the rare Whale, adding a new element to explore and interact with. Furthermore, Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks are being added, increasing the unpredictability and depth of the game world.
To help players navigate this expanded universe, a new Compendium will serve as an in-game encyclopedia, keeping track of all the new additions and mechanics. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preference.
