1. Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen
Our Top Pick### Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen
12With a brand new, ultra-comfortable leatherette and a softer seat cushion, the new Titan Evo Nanogen is the ultimate gaming chair. See it at SecretlabProduct SpecificationsSeat Height 17.7-20.5"Seat Width18.5"Seat Depth19.3" Backrest Length33.5"Backrest Width21" Tilt85-165°Ergonomics4D adjustable armrests, lumbar support, magnetic head pillow, memory foam with cooling gelMax Load285 lbsPROSHigh-quality, durable buildComfortable and ergonomicCONSBackrest foam can be stiff for someThe original Secretlab Titan Evo was my top pick for the best gaming chair since its release in 2022. The Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen edition has now taken the crown, offering a significant upgrade. While it may look similar at a glance, the new leatherette and seat cushion are noticeably softer and more comfortable.
Since the original Evo's release, Secretlab has developed its new Nanogen Hybrid Leatherette, which is much softer and enhances the chair's comfort. In my review, I compared it to Brisa, an "ultrafabric" typically found on luxury products. The only gaming chair that comes close to the Titan Evo Nanogen's suppleness is the LF Gaming Stealth, a luxury bucket seat starting at $1,700.
Secretlab also addressed feedback about the firmness of its cold cure foam. The new model features a Nanofoam Composite cushion on the seat, providing immediate softness while maintaining support for long gaming sessions.
The armrests have seen a major upgrade as well. They still feature hot-swappable top cushions with a magnetic attachment system, but the Nanogen comes with velour-wrapped PlushCell foam arm toppers by default. This added softness is crucial for preventing sore elbows. Combined with its PlushCell magnetic neck pillow, it's one of the coziest gaming chairs available. With the optional Ergonomic Recliner add-on, it's the only gaming chair I've ever taken a nap in.
This new model comes at a premium over the original, but it's worth every penny, offering class-leading comfort and features.

It's wrapped in durable leatherette or soft fabric with perforated sections for breathability, keeping you cool during intense play.
Priced at just $250, the TC100 Relaxed is my top recommendation for budget-conscious gamers. While it lacks some advanced features, it covers the basics well, with 2D armrests and a gas lift offering a wide range of height adjustments for ergonomic alignment. Although there's no built-in lumbar support, it comes with back and neck pillows, and a deep recline for relaxation between matches.
It's comfortable without sacrificing support, making it a great value for the price.

Owned by the same parent company as X-Chair, a leader in ergonomic office seating, Mavix applies this expertise to its gaming chairs.
The backrest features a prominent lumbar support called the Dynamic Variable Lumbar (DVL) system, designed to move with your body. Whether you're sitting upright or reclining, it stays in place where you need it.
The chair offers numerous adjustments, including a movable backrest to position the DVL perfectly for every gamer. The adjustable seat depth, often overlooked, is crucial for proper leg support and circulation. It's height adjustable, and you can adjust the rocking and reclining tension with a knob below the seat.
For gaming, Mavix includes 4D armrests with just-soft-enough cushions for support. With 127° of tilt, you can get comfortable with a controller, and it's the only ergonomic chair that allows traditional gaming chair reclining without moving the entire seat. The breathable mesh lumbar keeps you cool, while the memory foam leatherette seat ensures comfort. Mavix also offers upgrades like 360° rotational armrests and a rechargeable heating, cooling, massage pillow that fits into the DVL.
While the M9 is pricey, it's often available at a discount. If you're looking to save, the Mavix M7 offers nearly all the same features with a mesh seat. Either choice will do your back and body a big favor.

0See it at SecretlabHow I Chose the Best Gaming Chairs
In selecting the best gaming chairs, I prioritize those I've personally tested and know are worth recommending. My colleagues at IGN and I test many gaming chairs, and we'll continue to update this list. When personal testing isn't possible, we use our extensive knowledge to assess each chair's ergonomics, features, and materials. We also consult expert resources and real user reviews, considering real-world feedback on each company's product support and customer service.
How to Choose the Best Gaming Chair for You
Price is a key factor in choosing a gaming chair. Set a budget, as prices range from under $50 to nearly $1,000. Budget chairs like the Corsair TC100 Relaxed offer comfort but may lack features like 4D armrests or adjustable lumbar support. Avoid chairs under $100, especially if they seem too good to be true.
Comfort is paramount; a chair that causes pain is no good. Ensure the chair fits your size, with a wide, cushioned seat, long backrest, and good height adjustability. A sturdy metal frame is essential. For racing-style chairs like the AndaSeat Kaiser 3, consider the bolsters to avoid thigh discomfort.
Material choice is important: PU leather is easy to clean but can get hot, fabric is less of a heat magnet but harder to clean, and mesh is the most breathable but may lack cushioning. The Razer Fujin Pro is a great example of a well-executed mesh chair.
Additional features like a movable headrest, adjustable armrests, and customizable lumbar support enhance ergonomics but increase the price. Features like tilting or rocking mechanisms can also improve relaxation between gaming sessions.
Considering these factors will help you choose the perfect gaming chair for your needs.
Gaming Chair FAQ
What's the point of a gaming chair?
Gaming chairs are essentially office chairs with a stylish, often edgy aesthetic, enhancing the look of your gaming setup. While they may be more expensive and less ergonomic than office chairs, they offer a unique design that appeals to gamers. If you prioritize aesthetics and a gaming vibe, the best gaming chairs are a great choice. For long-term comfort, consider ergonomic office chairs.
How much should you spend on a gaming chair?
Avoid spending less than $80 on a gaming chair, as these are often low-quality. A good starting point is $200, but spending $300 or more will get you better options like the Secretlab Titan Evo series and AndaSeat Kaiser 3. Higher-end chairs offer features like built-in lumbar support, cooling gel, and more adjustable ergonomics, depending on your long-term needs.
Secretlab Titan Evo series Recline | Image: secretlab.co### Should you get a gaming chair or an office chair?
The choice depends on your priorities. Gaming chairs offer a stylish look and deep recline, while office chairs focus on ergonomics and adjustments. There's overlap between the two; the Steelcase Gesture is an office chair that looks great in a gaming setup, while the Mavix M9 is a gaming chair with office chair features. Consider your needs, sitting duration, and preferred adjustments when choosing.
What’s the best brand of gaming chair?
Brands like Razer, Corsair, and Secretlab consistently deliver comfortable, durable chairs across various price points. Established ergonomic brands like Herman-Miller, Steelcase, and Haworth also offer high-quality gaming chairs, though at a higher cost. Be cautious of very cheap options on Amazon, as they may compromise on quality. It's often worth investing in a reputable brand for better comfort and durability.
