Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 Receives Rating in Singapore
The flames of excitement for a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake are burning brighter than ever. Singapore's rating board has just rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release, adding significant fuel to the rumor mill. This anticipated remake would bundle the next two mainline entries in the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, and it's set to hit a wide array of platforms. According to the ratings board, players can look forward to enjoying the game on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While no official confirmation has been made public yet, the buzz around this collection is reaching a fever pitch. Fans have spotted a mysterious countdown timer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is teasing some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news. The timer is set to hit zero on March 4, 2025, suggesting that an announcement might be imminent.
Adding to the excitement, Tony Hawk himself has hinted at something special in the works. In a recent chat with Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed that he's been in discussions with Activision again, and they're crafting something that he believes fans will truly appreciate. This comes on the heels of the critically acclaimed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake from 2020, which set a high bar for what fans can expect from a follow-up.
The original plan, as Hawk shared, was to proceed with remakes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 immediately after the release of 1+2. However, the landscape shifted when Activision merged the remake's developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021, redirecting the team's focus to Blizzard's projects. This left Activision in search of a new studio to take on the challenge of remaking 3+4.
Tony Hawk shed light on this situation during a Twitch livestream in 2022, explaining that Activision had been vetting other studios for the job. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk said. Unfortunately, none of the proposals met Activision's expectations, and the project seemed to hit a roadblock.
Yet, with the Singaporean ratings board now listing Activision as both the publisher and developer for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, it appears that the project may have found new life. The burning question remains: who is at the helm of this anticipated remake? We may get our answer soon, as the countdown timer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to reveal more on March 4, next week. Stay tuned, as the skateboarding world waits with bated breath for what could be the next big thing in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series.
