Star Wars: Hunters to Shut Down Before First Anniversary
Star Wars: Hunters, despite not completing a full year, is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary before its eventual shutdown. The question arises: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its way out? While the game's closure might dampen spirits, celebrating its milestones can still honor the time and effort invested by both the developers and the player community.
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The official shutdown date for Star Wars: Hunters is October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's run after just nine months since its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5. Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is releasing a final content update on that date, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on April 15th as well.Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
The closure of Star Wars: Hunters may not come as a surprise to many. The game faced several challenges from the start. Announced in 2020, it suffered from multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions only. The lack of major console support and a lukewarm reception from the gaming community contributed to its eventual shutdown. Moreover, the game's design choices were seen as a missed opportunity. Instead of leveraging the rich tapestry of iconic Star Wars characters, the game opted for generic original characters, which may have failed to capture the imagination of fans.
If you've uninstalled the game but wish to experience it one last time, it remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
