Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprint Upgrades, Photo Mode Added
Palworld fans, get ready—version 0.5.0 is here, and it’s packed with major updates that elevate the game to a whole new level. The most anticipated feature? Crossplay support across all platforms, finally allowing friends to team up regardless of their chosen device.
Expanded Storage Options
With the introduction of the Global Palbox, players can now store Pal data and transfer creatures between different worlds seamlessly. Alongside this, the new Dimensional Pal Storage system offers ten times the capacity of the standard Palbox. This enhanced storage is accessible to guild members but can also be set to private mode for personal use, giving players more flexibility and control over their collections.
New Cosmetic and Gameplay Features
The latest update introduces a cosmetic armor system that lets players change their character's appearance without affecting armor stats—a long-requested feature. Additionally, photo mode is now available via the Pal Command Wheel, enabling players to hide the UI and freely move the camera for capturing stunning screenshots. Blueprints can now be upgraded by combining lower-rarity ones into higher-tier variants, adding depth to crafting mechanics.
Technical Enhancements and Platform Support
Dedicated servers are now available for Mac users, ensuring a smoother multiplayer experience. Developer Pocketpair has confirmed that dedicated servers for PlayStation 5 are in development and will arrive at a later date. These improvements highlight the studio’s commitment to optimizing the game across platforms.
Growing Popularity and Future Plans
Since launching into early access on Steam and Game Pass in January 2024, Palworld has attracted over 32 million players, surpassing many expectations. Pocketpair has shared an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, including the newly added crossplay feature, an "ending scenario," and additional expansions to keep the community engaged.
Legal Challenges and Business Expansion
Despite its success, Palworld faces legal scrutiny from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who have filed a lawsuit alleging patent infringement. In response, Pocketpair has updated players on the situation, identified the specific patents in question, and made adjustments to gameplay features—such as modifying how Pals are summoned. The developer remains committed to defending its position in court.
On the business side, Pocketpair has capitalized on Palworld’s popularity by signing a deal with Sony to launch the game on PS5 and forming a new entity called Palworld Entertainment, aimed at expanding the franchise beyond the game itself.
