So, what can fans expect from this Nintendo Direct? With the Nintendo Switch having sold an astounding 150.86 million units to date, it remains a powerhouse platform that continues to command the attention of video game publishers, developers, and Nintendo itself. Even as the company gears up for the release of the Switch 2, there are still numerous exciting titles in the pipeline for the original Switch.
Among the eagerly awaited games are Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, both slated for release in 2025. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch on the Switch sometime this year. Fans have also been eagerly awaiting Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was announced six years ago with confirmed launch platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. Given that the Switch 2 is expected to be backwards compatible, these games are likely to be playable on both the current and next-gen consoles.
This week's Nintendo Direct could serve as a grand finale for the Switch, eight years after its launch, highlighting Nintendo's final slate of exclusives before the transition to the Switch 2. However, Nintendo might still have a few surprises in store for fans, making this an unmissable event for Switch enthusiasts.
