Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
As part of the NieR 15th Anniversary celebrations, Square Enix announced an array of new initiatives during their livestream on April 19. A highlight was the introduction of the online special novel, [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be updated in three parts, with the first installment already available. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's teaser reads, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To keep fans engaged, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the special novel and other upcoming projects and events.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Stay tuned for ticket information and further details.
The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will expand with additional performances in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, and more details can be found on the official concert website.
A range of new merchandise was also unveiled, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the comprehensive NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon stories from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile game in the NieR series released in January 2021 and shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues, will feature a monthly developer blog. These updates will continue throughout the year, offering insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation. Despite the game's closure, the decision to launch a developer blog has sparked speculation about potential sequels or remakes, though no official statements have confirmed these rumors.
The livestream concluded with a captivating live performance lasting over 20 minutes, showcasing soundtracks from the entire NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements in the near future, keeping the NieR community eagerly anticipating what's next.
