"Marvel Rivals Dev: No PvE Mode Planned Yet"

Author : Evelyn Update : May 06,2025

Even though Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, fans are already buzzing with excitement about potential new features. Recent rumors have suggested the possibility of a PvE boss fight, sparking speculation about an upcoming PvE mode. However, NetEase has clarified that there are currently no plans for a PvE mode, though they haven't ruled it out entirely.

At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the future of the game. When asked about a PvE mode, Wu stated, "For now, we don't have any kind of PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. So if we found that a new specific game mode is entertaining enough, fun enough, we would of course bring it to our audience."

Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if I would like to see a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals. After I confirmed my interest, Wu elaborated, "Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience that would like the PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, that will be totally a different distinctive experience from what we have right now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, maybe a lighter mode, in a lighter sense of that, and to see what would work best for our game."

While there are no firm plans for a PvE mode at the moment, Wu's comments suggest that NetEase is exploring ideas for a "lighter" game mode, possibly something like a one-off event. For now, the company remains tight-lipped about further details.

Marvel Rivals continues to evolve, with new characters being added every month and a half. The latest heroes set to join the roster are Human Torch and The Thing, arriving on February 21. We also discussed with Wu and Koo the potential for a Nintendo Switch 2 release of Marvel Rivals, which you can read about [ttpp]. Additionally, we addressed the issue of whether NetEase was intentionally misleading dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the game's code.
