Looks Like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Will Support Cloud Saves After All
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, alleviating earlier concerns among fans. Initially, a disclaimer on Nintendo's website had sparked worries that certain enhanced versions of Switch 1 games, specifically Tears of the Kingdom, might not include this feature. The original notice stated, "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature."
However, Nintendo has since updated its website, clarifying the situation. While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, the updated disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom now reads, "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This indicates that players will be able to transfer their existing Switch 1 saves to the Switch 2, but not vice versa.
This change should provide reassurance to Switch 2 owners. The same message has also been added to the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, suggesting a consistent policy for save data transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have gone live, maintaining the price at $449.99. As expected, these pre-orders have been met with significant interest. For more details, check out IGN's comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
