Death Stranding Broadens Horizons
Anime Project Announced

While a live-action Death Stranding film has been in development, creator Hideo Kojima revealed an anime adaptation is also in progress. In a May 28 interview with Vogue Japan, Kojima discussed the upcoming film and casually mentioned the anime project.
He emphasized that the future will see the lines between video games and films blur, a core mission of his company. Kojima stated, "After establishing the Death Stranding IP across platforms and producing a film and sequel, our next phase is crafting a project where the divide between games and cinema vanishes completely."

Discussing game-to-film adaptations, Kojima referenced "The Last of Us," which stayed true to its story, and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," designed as fan-focused entertainment. He aims to create a film worthy of prestigious awards at festivals like Cannes or Venice. He added, "We’re actively developing an anime adaptation as well."
Although Kojima hinted at an anime possibility in a September 2024 Variety interview, this marks the first official confirmation from Kojima Productions. No further details about the project have been shared yet.

Awaiting the Porter
Reddit users reported a new QR code campaign launched by Kojima Productions, linking to a video on the game’s official website. User soldier_ibra noted the studio’s Pocket Tissue campaign in Japan, where QR codes on tissue packets direct fans to the video.
On May 23, Kojima tweeted about personally distributing these tissues on Tokyo streets. The video, "Prepper Awaiting Porter," shows a brief, uneventful scene inside a Prepper Shelter. Fans view this as classic Kojima marketing, expecting more promotional content as the game’s release approaches.
With the launch nearing, Kojima is actively promoting the sequel to the acclaimed action-adventure title. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach arrives on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. For the latest updates, explore our Death Stranding 2: On The Beach article below!
