inZOI Dev Removes Denuvo DRM After Apology
inZOI's developer has issued an apology for the inclusion of Denuvo DRM in the game and has committed to its removal. This decision comes after significant community feedback and concerns regarding the impact of Denuvo on game performance. Read on to understand inZOI's statement on this matter and their vision for a highly moddable game experience.
inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM
The developers of inZOI have confirmed that they will remove Denuvo DRM from the game. This decision follows reports that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo, designed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, has long been debated for its potential to impact game performance negatively.
In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns. He announced that the upcoming Early Access build, scheduled for release on Friday, will be free of DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution, believing it would ensure fairness for players who purchased the game legitimately. However, after considering community feedback, we realized this was not what our players wanted," Kjun explained.
Kjun also apologized for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He acknowledged that while removing DRM could increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would also make inZOI more freely configurable. This change would allow players to customize and create their own experiences. "We believe enabling this freedom from the start will foster innovative and enduring enjoyment within our community," Kjun stated.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game
inZOI has emphasized the importance of modding, which made the initial addition of Denuvo particularly confusing for players, as it hinders modding and customization efforts. Kjun reiterated the commitment to making inZOI a highly moddable game. "As mentioned during our Online Showcase, we are dedicated to providing extensive mod support. Our first stage of official mod support will launch in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. This is just the beginning; we plan to expand mod support to enhance the game experience in various ways," he said.
Kjun also mentioned that a separate post would provide more detailed information on modding. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a quality gaming experience.
inZOI is set to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed.
