Helldivers 2 has just rolled out a significant update, Patch 01.003.000, now available on both PC and PlayStation 5. This update introduces new enemies from the Illuminate faction, weapon customization and progression, and revamps the Superstore's inventory system.

Arrowhead, the game's developer, has been hinting at this major update for some time, and it's finally here with a full-blown invasion from the Illuminate. The PlayStation Blog provides detailed insights into the new enemies: the Stingray, jetfighters that support the Illuminate from the sky, executing deadly strafing runs on Helldivers; the Crescent Overseer, capable of barraging Helldivers even in cover; and the Fleshmob, a brute force born from a failed Illuminate experiment, posing a significant challenge to players.

Arrowhead has also teased sightings of even larger ships, hinting at more surprises for players to uncover in-game.

For the first time, most primary weapons in Helldivers 2 can now be leveled up by completing missions, unlocking new attachments through Requisition. Additionally, players can customize their weapons with different patterns, enhancing their visual appeal and performance on the battlefield.

Here's how Arrowhead describes the new customization options:

Whether it's tweaking sights for precision, changing color patterns, adjusting magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to optimize weapon performance characteristics or adjusting under-barrel attachments for the handling you want, you're in command of how your weaponry performs on the battlefield. This level of individual attunement is sure to make your favorite primary best in its class.

Arrowhead has also unlocked and deployed a stash of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds.Alongside weapon customization, Arrowhead has released a collection of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These patterns will unlock on May 15, coinciding with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond.

And finally, the Superstore has been changed so items you want are always available, as opposed to players having to wait for items to come back into rotation. The Superstore has also undergone changes, ensuring that desired items are always available, eliminating the need for players to wait for items to rotate back into stock.

Beyond these new features, Patch 01.003.000 includes a comprehensive balance update, tweaking aspects like spread, drag, sway, melee weapon stamina costs, shrapnel spawning, and fire damage, enhancing overall gameplay experience.
