Guitar Hero Mobile Stumbles with AI Launch Announcement
When it comes to fast-and-furious rhythm games, although the genre never truly took off in the West, there was one colossal exception: Guitar Hero. Now, this iconic franchise is set to make a triumphant return, and it's coming to the ever-popular mobile platform! However, Activision's announcement didn't quite hit the right note.
Instead of a thrilling trailer or a detailed press release, the announcement came via an AI-generated promotional image on Instagram. This choice has unfortunately overshadowed the excitement of the legendary franchise's return, especially following another widely-reported instance of AI use in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The use of AI art has drawn significant criticism and dampened the anticipation for Guitar Hero Mobile.
As for what Guitar Hero Mobile will look and sound like, details are scarce. Although the series did venture into mobile nearly two decades ago, as shown below, fans are eagerly hoping for something truly impressive this time around.
**Broken Strings** Many have criticized the art used in the Guitar Hero Mobile announcement as egregiously poor, possibly not even created with the latest image generators. This misstep suggests that Guitar Hero Mobile might be dead on arrival, especially given the stiff competition from Space Ape's popular BeatStar.
While the idea of Guitar Hero returning excites me, and I see tremendous potential for it on mobile, it's undeniable that Activision has stumbled once more, despite the potential positives.
