Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Fallout 76's latest update allows players to experience Appalachia as a Ghoul. Announced by Bethesda on March 18, Season 20 "The Ghoul Within" is now live, offering players the chance to transform through a new feature called Ghoulification. This transformation is unlocked by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline, which leads players to a new area in the Savage Divide where they'll encounter characters pivotal to their transformation journey.
As a Ghoul, players gain access to unique abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks. The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics with a Feral meter, which when fully depleted, dramatically alters gameplay by providing a 150% boost to Melee Damage but at the cost of significant reductions in Endurance, Charisma, Max HP, Max AP, and accuracy. On the other hand, the Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, rendering them immune to diseases and mutations, and even causes them to glow. This ability boosts maximum health, heals damage, and contributes to the effectiveness of Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks."
Players can choose from 28 perks and 2 new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are not applicable to Ghouls, as these needs are irrelevant to their new form.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the radiation-filled wasteland becomes easier as a Ghoul, thanks to the array of Gherks and abilities at your disposal. However, be aware that some factions, like the Brotherhood of Steel, may become hostile towards Ghouls, potentially blocking access to certain questlines.
To mitigate this, players can interact with a new NPC, Jaye, who provides disguises that allow Ghouls to access content otherwise restricted to them. If the Ghoul life doesn't suit you, reverting to human form is possible through the Character Screen, though this is a one-way decision. Re-transformation into a Ghoul is available for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and returning players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, introduced in the Season 20 update. This boost, available for 1500 Atoms, helps players quickly dive into multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and certain story content.
The update also includes numerous bug fixes and balance adjustments, such as improvements to accessibility, combat mechanics, and weapon damage. Bethesda has also announced the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, set for April 29, which is part of their ongoing season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has seen numerous updates to address initial bugs and issues. The game now boasts a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. Fallout 76 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
