EA Skate Introduces In-Game Purchases Early
EA has introduced microtransactions to Skate during its latest alpha testing phase, preceding an official release date announcement.
As reported by Insider Gaming, developer Full Circle implemented microtransactions into the ongoing closed alpha test for EA's free-to-play Skate revival.
Players can purchase San Van Bucks, a virtual currency, using real money to acquire cosmetic items. Full Circle appears to be testing Skate’s microtransaction system, emphasizing its goal to ensure players enjoy a "seamless purchasing experience in the Skate store."
"Your feedback is invaluable in refining the game ahead of Early Access launch," the message adds.
Insider Gaming notes that Full Circle has informed testers of a full progress reset before Early Access begins, with all purchases reimbursed as San Van Bucks for use upon relaunch.
Skate’s Early Access is scheduled for 2025. Initially announced during EA Play in 2020, the project was then described as being in "very early" development. Since then, Full Circle has maintained transparency through exclusive community playtests and dev updates via its "The Board Room" video series.
In 2022, the developer confirmed the title would simply be called ‘skate.’ and revealed plans for a free-to-play launch across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms.
