A demo of the fan-made sequel Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude has been released

With no official Half-Life 2 Episode 3 in sight, fans are stepping up to create their own continuations. A recent example is Pega_Xing's Half-Life 2 Episode 3 Interlude demo.

This fan-made sequel plunges players into an Arctic setting. Gordon Freeman awakens after a helicopter crash, pursued by the relentless Alliance.

While the current demo is available for testing, updates are planned, promising not only story advancements but also improvements to the original, including puzzle redesigns, enhanced flashlight mechanics, and refined level design.

While a 2025 release might be overly optimistic, even for Valve, a formal announcement seems entirely plausible. Dataminer Gabe Follower reported that a new Half-Life game is reportedly undergoing internal playtesting at Valve, with positive feedback from the developers.
