Dead by Daylight: Authentic Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay Revealed in New Chapter

Behaviour Interactive has unveiled exciting details about its latest addition to Dead by Daylight, the new Killer named Springtrap, set to launch on June 17, 2025. This thrilling crossover with the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise promises to immerse fans in a familiar horror experience.

In a deep dive with IGN ahead of today's public test build (PTB), Behaviour Interactive revealed the mechanics behind Springtrap's unique abilities. Drawing directly from Five Nights at Freddy’s, Springtrap, also known as The Animatronic, brings a new jump scare mechanic to the game, distinguishing it from other Killers in Dead by Daylight. This yellow rabbit, armed with an axe, is poised to be one of the game's most impactful characters, leveraging his complex lore from the Five Nights at Freddy’s series to offer players a fresh and terrifying gameplay experience.

When thrown skillfully, it can lodge in a Survivor, setting the stage for a chilling Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare when Springtrap retrieves it.

Enhancing the immersive experience, Behaviour Interactive has enlisted the talents of Five Nights at Freddy’s movie star Matthew Lillard, who lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic's Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Other outfit options for Springtrap include the Legendary Glitchtrap, Very Rare Clown Springtrap, and Toxic Springtrap, alongside Freddy Fazbear’s t-shirts for the Survivors.

While Springtrap is a major highlight, the new Chapter introduces more than just a new Killer. Players will also explore the new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map, a meticulously crafted recreation of the iconic pizza restaurant with unique twists courtesy of The Entity.

Key areas in the new map include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, where players can encounter Freddy’s band members, Bonnie and Chica. The map is not just a backdrop but an interactive part of the gameplay, filled with Easter Eggs and jump scares for players to discover.
