Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in Fun Video Marking 10M RE4 Players

Capcom has cleverly teased the upcoming Resident Evil 9 within a celebratory video for reaching 10 million players of Resident Evil 4. Released on social media on April 25, the video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, then shifts to Leon surrounded by an infected crowd wearing party hats, all heading towards a church.

The scene transitions to Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, accompanied by a rock song. The camera then focuses on Leon, energetically fist-pumping in front of a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign. However, when this sign is turned sideways, the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9.

While some might dismiss this as a mere coincidence, the absence of a lower plank on the sign in earlier parts of the video, as noted by horror game leaker Dusk Golem, suggests intentional placement. This has sparked considerable speculation among fans. One commenter expressed surprise, stating, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

Adding to the excitement, Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 9 will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi previously mentioned the challenges of following up Resident Evil 7, saying, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Although not officially confirmed, rumors suggest that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
