Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 Adds 12 Subclasses
Larian Studios has announced the highly anticipated Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will officially launch on Tuesday, April 15.
While Patch 8 has been undergoing stress testing, Larian confirms it’s now ready for a full release to all players next week.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8: New Subclasses
Bard - College of Glamour
The College of Glamour Bard masters battlefield control with spells like Mantle of Inspiration, granting allies 5 temporary HP while Charming attackers. Strategically command affected foes using Mantle of Majesty, forcing them to flee, drop weapons, or freeze.
Barbarian - Path of Giants
Embrace raw power with the Path of Giants, where Giant’s Rage boosts strength and size permanently—no potions needed. Launch devastating throws with bonus damage and enjoy expanded carrying capacity.
Cleric - Death Domain
Death Domain Clerics wield necrotic magic, including the scaling cantrip Toll The Dead (1~8 damage) and explosive corpse manipulation abilities.
Druid - Circle of Stars
Channel celestial forces through three Starry Forms: Archer (radiant damage), Chalice (AoE healing), or Dragon (combat resilience). These forms elevate Druids beyond traditional wildshapes.
Paladin - Oath of the Crown
Uphold justice with Righteous Clarity for party buffs and Divine Allegiance to absorb allies' damage while healing them.
Fighter - Arcane Archer
Combine magic and archery to banish foes or inflict Wisdom-saving Psychic damage that may blind enemies.
Monk - Drunken Master
Regain Ki by drinking alcohol mid-combat. Use Intoxicating Strike to debuff enemies and follow up with Sobering Realisation for hybrid damage.
Ranger - Swarmkeeper
Command three unique swarms: Jellyfish (lightning/shock), Moths (Psychic/blind), or Bees (piercing/knockback)—each offering tactical teleports.
Rogue - Swashbuckler
Embrace pirate tactics with sand-throwing (Blind), weapon flicks (Disarm), and evasion via Fancy Footwork.
Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
Thrive in darkness with Superior Darkvision, Shadow Walk teleports, and summonable Hounds of Ill Omen. Strength of the Grave prevents fatal blows.
Warlock - Hexblade
Forge pacts with shadow weapons to curse foes and resurrect slain enemies as necrotic minions for ten turns.
Wizard - Bladesinging
Merge swordplay and spells, gaining enhanced mobility, focus, and Constitution saves through Bladesong.

Patch 8 marks Larian’s final major update, concluding an extraordinary chapter for Baldur’s Gate 3—a commercial and critical juggernaut since its 2023 debut.
The studio surprised fans by shifting focus from D&D to an unannounced project, while Hasbro hints at future Baldur’s Gate entries. During GDC, SVP Dan Ayoub noted significant developer interest, teasing imminent announcements.
Though Ayoub expressed long-term interest in Baldur’s Gate 4, he emphasized a deliberate approach: "We’ve got multiple paths forward… expect news soon."
Larian will showcase Patch 8 via Twitch livestream hosted by senior systems designer Ross Stephens.
