The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) is excited to bring the fun and educational Primary & Prep school spelling Bee competition to young learners through the KCNK Little Bee Game. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), this app is perfect for kids aged 4 to 9, offering over 150 words to master across three engaging modes.

The KCNK Little Bee Game is designed for offline play, making it easy for kids to learn and compete anywhere. With two learning modes and a competition mode, each featuring 10 levels, the game progressively introduces longer words. Each level includes at least 15 words, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. The words remain consistent across all modes within each level.

In the Settings section, students can personalize their experience by entering their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose from Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, or Competition Mode.

Learning Mode 1:

In this mode, students learn to spell by tapping each letter of a word from left to right. The app audibly announces each letter, helping children to learn by repetition. If a mistake is made, students can tap to correct it. To hear the word again, they can tap the little bee icon at the top left of the screen. To progress, students must spell each word correctly, completing all words to finish a level. They can retry any level at any time, but must complete earlier levels before advancing.

Learning Mode 2:

Here, students are presented with jumbled letters and must correctly spell the word. Mistakes can be undone by tapping on them, and the word can be replayed by tapping the little bee icon. As in Learning Mode 1, students must spell each word correctly to move forward and complete all words to finish a level. They can retry levels and must complete them in order.

Competition Mode:

In this challenging mode, students face jumbled letters with additional distractors and must spell the word correctly under a time constraint. Each word's time contributes to the level's total time. Students tackle 10 random words from the level's pool, aiming to complete each level as quickly as possible. The leaderboard on the main page displays the time spent on each level.

Students can reset the game from the Settings page. It's important for them to wait until a letter is fully announced before selecting the next one. Both students and parents are encouraged to capture screenshots of the leaderboard to share with teachers.
