In the Arab countries, particularly in the Levant, the card game known as Tarneeb blackjack is a popular pastime. Referred to as "rule" in the Arab Gulf states, the game's primary objective is to win consecutive Tarneeb groups. Played by four players divided into two teams, each pair works together to outsmart the opposing team until the end of the groups, ultimately determining the winner.

Tarneeb blackjack is played with a standard 52-card deck, excluding jokers. The game begins with the dealer distributing cards starting from their right. The bidding starts with the player to the left of the dealer and proceeds clockwise. Bidding ranges from 7 to 13, known as "Cabot" or "livers," and the highest bidder chooses the Tarneeb suit.

If a team fails to meet their bid, they face penalties. For instance, if a team bids for 10 tricks but only wins 9, they lose points equal to the bid (10 points), while the opposing team gains points for the tricks they won, such as 4 points in this example. Conversely, if the opposing team wins 5 tricks, any deceptive tactics used by the bidding team are exposed.

The game concludes when one team reaches either 61 or 31 points, depending on the pre-agreed target set before starting play.
