Firaxis Games is bringing the recently released Civilization VII to virtual reality.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR, the franchise's first VR title, will launch exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets in Spring 2025. Developed by PlaySide Studios (known for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Meta Horizon Worlds), this VR adaptation promises a unique gameplay experience.

Here's the official description:
Civilization VII - VR immerses players like never before. The game world unfolds on a Command Table, allowing for both a grand overview and intimate inspection of details. Players interact directly with world leaders, forging alliances or waging war across the ages.
The game supports both immersive VR and mixed reality modes, seamlessly switching between them. VR places players in a museum overlooking a personalized leader vista, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to the player's physical space. Detailed dioramas showcasing gameplay achievements are viewable in The Archives, accessible in both modes. Online multiplayer supports up to four players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.
The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available via early access, have received mixed player feedback on Steam, citing UI issues, limited map variety, and missing features.
Firaxis has acknowledged this feedback, pledging improvements to the UI, the addition of team-based multiplayer, expanded map types, and more.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged negative reviews but expressed confidence in the game's long-term appeal to the "legacy Civ audience," describing early performance as "very encouraging."
