Summary

  • Developer ConcernedApe is currently working on fixes for the Nintendo Switch version of Stardew Valley, resolving the divorce crash and raccoon shop issues that players have reported.
  • The patch addressing these problems will be released for the Nintendo Switch as quickly as possible.
  • These particular issues have already been fixed on PC, other consoles, and mobile devices, though the Switch version update is still underway.

Stardew Valley's creator, ConcernedApe, has shared via social media that a Nintendo Switch patch to fix the divorce crash and raccoon shop problems is arriving shortly. While these issues have been resolved on PC, mobile, and Xbox versions, the update for Nintendo's console is still pending.

Since its 2016 debut, Stardew Valley has seen many updates and changes. The game instantly won over players with its distinctive gameplay and appealing pixel art, while its calming and soothing mechanics have kept it immensely popular over time. ConcernedApe has diligently updated the game not only to introduce fresh content but also to fix various community-reported bugs. A long-standing issue was resolved with an update in December, which is now close to launching on the Switch.

ConcernedApe posted on Twitter to update fans that the Stardew Valley patch tackling the divorce crash and raccoon shop is "still in the pipeline." Although no exact release date was given for the Switch update, the developer confirmed it will be out as soon as possible. After the 1.6 update went live, several players encountered these and other problems, which were later fixed on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Around Christmas, ConcernedApe tweeted that the Switch patch was being developed, and now, nearly three weeks later, it seems almost ready.

Nintendo Switch Patch for Stardew Valley Fixing Divorce Crash and Raccoon Shop Is Arriving Soon

Stardew Valley's major 1.6 update launched for PC in March, introducing a wealth of new features. The update expanded NPC dialogue with unique gift reactions, added a new farm type called Meadowlands Farm, and brought in additional festivals and events. Visual refinements were also part of the update, including waterfalls, festive decorations, and seasonal map changes.

While update 1.6 fixed numerous gameplay glitches, later patches inadvertently caused new ones. The console and mobile versions received update 1.6 in November, but players soon spotted various issues, including some major crashes. An emergency fix was deployed for the mobile version on November 15, as the developer continued addressing problems on other platforms.

The Stardew Valley community appreciates ConcernedApe's transparent communication and quick action in responding to player feedback. Although the Switch patch that resolves the divorce crash and raccoon shop isn't live yet, players can trust that the developer is pushing to release it promptly.
