Stardew Valley 2 Shelved as Dev Focuses on Original
Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone hints that a sequel might be in the cards someday.
However, during his TigerBelly podcast appearance, the developer tempered expectations by noting how expanding the existing game proves far simpler than building an entirely new one from the ground up.
"All the core systems are already perfected—that's the tedious part," Barone explained. "With current updates, I can focus on creative additions like whimsical weather events without worrying about foundational mechanics."
"To be honest, I may develop Stardew Valley 2 eventually," he conceded (via Nintendo Life).
Barone revealed his desire to expand beyond farming simulators, leading to his current project Haunted Chocolatier. Fans shouldn't expect imminent news though—the developer insists this spiritual successor must surpass Stardew Valley's legacy, requiring significant additional work.
