"Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Still in Development, Developer Confirms"
Saber Interactive has reaffirmed its commitment to all previously announced projects, including the highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake, despite the lack of recent updates. Following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to reassure fans that every game the studio has announced is still in active development.
"Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."
The most notable project mentioned is the KOTOR remake, which has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The game has undergone multiple development changes and ownership shifts, yet Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the project remains active following the studio's split from Embracer Group. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch said. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
Willits' recent statement, coming nearly a year after Karch's, reinforces the ongoing development of the KOTOR remake. However, fans are still awaiting any new visuals or information beyond the initial announcement video.
In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive has a robust lineup of other titles in development. Games like John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have not yet been announced. The studio is also crafting a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. With the recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their roster, Saber Interactive continues to expand its diverse portfolio.
