Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released

Playable But Requires Configuration

Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Valve's official testing has confirmed that Silent Hill f is playable on the Steam Deck. However, it falls short of being "verified" due to the need for some manual configurations to ensure perfect compatibility with the handheld. To achieve "verified" status, a game must fully support the device's controls and display, and meet Valve's standards for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.

The game supports all functionalities with the default controller configuration and displays the Steam Deck controller icons. Yet, some in-game text may be too small to read comfortably. Additionally, to achieve optimal performance, users will need to manually adjust settings on the Steam Deck.

This represents a significant step forward compared to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which initially received no support for the Steam Deck despite efforts to enhance its compatibility. As Konami has not yet revealed an official release date for Silent Hill f, there remains ample opportunity for further optimization.

PC System Requirements

Konami recently disclosed the PC system requirements for Silent Hill f on its Steam store page, providing insights into how the game might perform on the Steam Deck. Below are the minimum and recommended specifications for the game.

For the minimum specs, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 will run the game at 720p resolution and 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU capabilities, performance might be slightly lower than these minimum requirements. Playing at 720p on the Steam Deck could still be manageable, but the difference might become more evident when the device is connected to an HD TV. Konami also recommends using an SSD for better performance.

For the recommended specs, players can opt for Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, both of which require an SSD.

The most recent Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 offered a glimpse into what fans can anticipate from the game. Silent Hill f is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not been announced.
