Unlocking Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley
Initially, you can adopt one pet. The 1.6 update introduced the ability to have more. To unlock this, you must fully maximize your existing pet's friendship level. Daily interactions are key: fill their water bowl (except on rainy/snowy days) and pet them (indicated by a heart). Check their friendship level in the "Animals" menu. A full friendship meter triggers a letter from Marnie, opening the door to adopting additional pets. If you skipped the initial pet adoption, Marnie will send this letter at the start of Year 2.
