Nexus Mods Bans Marvel's Midnight Suns Mods Featuring Politicians
Nexus Mods, a popular platform for game modifications, finds itself at the center of a heated debate after removing over 500 mods in a single month. The controversy ignited when mods for Marvel Rivals, replacing Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, were taken down.
The platform's owner, known as TheDarkOne, clarified the situation on Reddit, stating that both mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. He noted the curious silence from YouTube commentators on this point.
TheDarkOne further revealed that the removal sparked a wave of online harassment, including death threats and personal attacks. He attributed this backlash to individuals exploiting the situation for their own agendas.
This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced criticism over mod removals. A previous incident in 2022 involved the removal of a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags. The platform's stance on inclusivity and its rejection of content deemed discriminatory was reiterated at that time.
TheDarkOne concluded by expressing a lack of interest in engaging with those who find the platform's policies objectionable.
