Monster Hunter Wilds Nears 1 Million Peak Concurrent Players on Steam — and It’s Only Going to Get Bigger From Here

Author : Riley Update : Mar 03,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds enjoys a phenomenal launch, boasting nearly 1 million concurrent Steam players.

Capcom's action-adventure title debuted on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, swiftly ascending to Steam's eighth most-played game ever, peaking at an astounding 987,482 concurrent users.

This surpasses the all-time peaks of top-sellers like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur's Gate 3, significantly outperforming its predecessor, Monster Hunter World (2018), which reached a peak of 334,684 concurrent players on Steam. It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Monster Hunter Wilds is likely higher, as Sony and Microsoft don't publicly release their player numbers.

The question remains: how high will the Steam concurrent player count climb as Monster Hunter Wilds enters its first weekend and beyond? Surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 and reaching the 1 million mark seems imminent. Could 2 million be a realistic possibility?

While Capcom hasn't revealed sales figures for Monster Hunter Wilds, all indicators suggest a tremendously successful launch. (Monster Hunter World achieved over 25 million sales in six years, solidifying its position as Capcom's best-selling game.) However, the game's Steam user reviews are currently "mixed," with some players reporting performance issues.

IGN awarded Monster Hunter Wilds an 8/10 rating, stating: "Monster Hunter Wilds cleverly refines the series' rough edges, resulting in incredibly fun battles, albeit lacking a true challenge."
