Author : Audrey Update : Feb 19,2025

The highly anticipated Lunar Remastered Collection is set to launch on April 18th, bringing the classic JRPG duology to modern platforms. Developed by Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment, this collection will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S compatibility).

This remastered collection features updated visuals, a re-recorded soundtrack, and numerous quality-of-life improvements. These enhancements include fully voiced dialogue in Japanese and English, with added French and German subtitles. A classic mode allows players to experience the games with their original PS1-era graphics, while a speed-up combat command and auto-battle options streamline gameplay. Other modern conveniences include widescreen support and high-definition cutscenes.

Originally released in 1992 and 1994 for the Sega CD, Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue have garnered a dedicated following over the years. Their previous PlayStation and Sega Saturn remakes solidified their status as beloved RPGs. This new remaster promises to introduce these timeless classics to a new generation of players while providing nostalgic fans with an enhanced experience. Physical editions will be available in select North American and European stores.

The success of this collection remains to be seen, but the positive reception of the Grandia HD Collection, a previous collaboration between Game Arts and GungHo Online Entertainment, suggests a promising outlook. The Lunar Remastered Collection continues the trend of beloved retro JRPGs receiving modern updates, offering a fresh perspective on these cherished titles.
