Although some U.S. Apple users might initially struggle to find Fortnite through the App Store's search function, Epic has assured that this issue will be resolved "soon." In the meantime, you can access its revived store page by clicking here. For those in the E.U., Fortnite is also available for download via the Epic Games Store and AltStore.
The return of Fortnite to iOS devices marks the conclusion of a significant conflict between Epic and Apple. The drama began in August 2020, when both Google and Apple removed Fortnite from their digital stores after Epic introduced an update that lowered V-Bucks prices and implemented a direct payment system. Epic justified this move as a stand against what they described as "exorbitant" store fees imposed by Apple and Google.
The ensuing legal battle lasted years and prevented Fortnite from being available on official storefronts, leaving millions of players unable to access the game on their Apple and Google devices. The situation shifted in April when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced that Fortnite would return to the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling by a U.S. Federal District Court in California. A last-minute hiccup involving continued blocking by Apple delayed the return, but now, after a five-year hiatus, Fortnite is once again accessible on iOS devices.
Players who download Fortnite on their Apple phones or tablets can now purchase V-Bucks either through the Epic Games Store or via in-app purchases. For instance, those opting for the 2,800 V-Bucks pack at $22.99 can choose to pay Epic directly, receiving $4.60 (or 20%) back to use on other Epic offerings.
