As expected, EA is setting its sights on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a prime platform for its gaming lineup. In a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson was directly questioned about Nintendo's upcoming console, and his response hinted at EA's intention to bring a significant portion of its game catalog to the new system.

Wilson specifically highlighted EA's lucrative sports franchises, such as Madden and FC, as having potential to thrive on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also mentioned The Sims as a title that could perform exceptionally well on the new console.

"Anytime a new console enters the marketplace, it's a boon for us, as it opens up opportunities to reach and engage new players," Wilson explained. "Our franchises have historically done well on Nintendo platforms. We anticipate that titles like FC, Madden, and others might capture significant interest on the Switch 2, much like they have in the past."

Reflecting on the success of The Sims and the My Sims cozy bundle, which exceeded expectations with 50% of its players being new to EA, Wilson sees a great opportunity for expansion. "While nothing is set in our current models, our expectation is that every time a superior new console hits the market, giving us access to fresh audiences and communities, our intellectual property will greatly benefit," he added.

While the news of Madden and FC coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 isn't surprising, fans are curious about the versions they'll encounter. EA has traditionally released "legacy" editions of FIFA on the original Switch, but with the rebranded FC series, they've aimed for feature parity. With the increased power of the Switch 2, it's possible that FC 26 could closely resemble its counterparts on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Now that Nintendo has officially announced the Switch 2, the gaming community is piecing together what to expect in terms of titles. Rumors suggest a long list of third-party games heading to the console. In an IGN interview, Civilization 7 developer Firaxis found the Switch 2's rumored Joy-Con mouse mode "definitely intriguing." French game and accessories company Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed that they have games ready for the Switch 2. Additionally, the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is rumored to be coming to the platform.

As for Nintendo's own developments, a new Mario Kart is in the works. More details are expected to be unveiled at a Nintendo Direct scheduled for April.
